2019 : MY SUPPORT FOR BUHARI THIS TIME WILL NOT BE ON TRUST AGAIN BUT ON CONDITION --TINUBU

A national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Ahmed Bolaji Tinubu, has told President Muhammadu Buhari that the condition for supporting him (Buhari) ahead 2019 general elections would be renegotiated, ThisDay reports.

The paper reports that Tinubu told Buhari that him and his loyalists in the South-west were ready to back Buhari’s re-election bid, but that the condition for their support would be different this time around.

The report claims that the APC chieftain had told those who approached him on Buhari’s re-election bid thus, ”Let it be known that we supported him in 2015 based on trust. This time, around, we have to negotiate proper agreement.”

The report has it that the APC is very concerned that the contest will be much tougher due to the disappointment, mistrust and discontent with the administration by a large section of Nigerians.

According to the newspaper, Buharists, led by former governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi have been reaching out to seek the understanding and cooperation of all that matter, as they forge ahead with Buhari’s re-election.

There’s an earlier report that Buhari has appointed Amaechi as the Director-General of his campaign organization ahead of 2019 contest.

" THE BUHARI WE MET, BY GOV OKOROCHA

In a telephone conversation following the meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and leaders with President Muhammadu Buhari in London Sunday, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, said the President was very cheerful and has not lost any bit of his sense of humour.

The governor said the party delegation spent more than an hour with President Buhari over lunch, and it was very clear from the discussions that he followed developments at home very closely.

He said the President was delighted to receive the delegation and asked each governor about affairs in his state. He also asked the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, about the state of the railways.

When asked to react to all the negative things being said about him, the President just laughed, describing such negative reports as lies. Governor Okorocha said President Buhari was completely unperturbed by the cocktail of lies. He, instead, sent his best wishes to Nigerians.

According to the governor, Nigerians don’t have to worry at all, adding that President Buhari will be back as soon as the doctors give him the green light.

“By our visit to London today, the merchants of lies have been put out of business and Nigerians will not buy the garbage they have been selling. All those who look up to fake news can find better use for their time,” Governor Okorocha noted.

Governors Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa; Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna; Yahaya Bello of Kogi; and APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, were also in the delegation.

Dont take Fanta with Vitamin C,is dangerous

A court in Lagos State has warned Nigerians to avoid taking Vitamin C with Fanta and Sprite soft drinks.

The Igbosere High Court also told the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to force the Nigeria Bottling Company (NBC) Plc to place a written warning on the drinks.

The judgment was given on Monday, March 13, by presiding judge, Justice Adedayo Oyebanji.

Justice Oyebanji also awarded damages of N2 million against NAFDAC for failing “to live up to expectations.”

“In consideration of the fact that this case was filed in 2008 and has been in court for nine years, N2 million is awarded against NAFDAC. Interest shall be paid on the cost awarded at the rate of 10 per cent per annum until liquidation of the said sum,” Justice Oyebanji said.

The case against NAFDAC and NBC was instituted by Dr. Emmanuel Fijabi Adebo, and his firm, Fijabi Adebo Holdings Ltd.

Fijabi Adebo Holdings had, in March 2007, purchased large quantities of Coca-Cola, Fanta Orange, Sprite, Fanta Lemon, Fanta Pineapple and Soda Water from NBC for export to the UK for retail purposes.

However, the drinks failed a sample test for human consumption in the UK and became poisonous in the presence of Ascorbic Acid, known as Vitamin C.

The court also said that NAFDAC had failed Nigerians by certifying the drinks as satisfactory for human consumption.

Fijabi, on his part, urged the court to direct NAFDAC to conduct routine laboratory tests of all soft drinks and allied products of the company, to guarantee their safety.

Okonjo-Iweala denies sending list of corrupt deals done by GEJ administration to

There were reports last week that former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala sent a list of corrupt deals done during the past administration to President Buhari. Dr Okonjo-Iweala, released a statement through her media aide, Paul Nwabuikwu, discrediting the report. The statement below

The recent report by the integrity-challenged website, Saharareporters and some other media that former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has handed over a “dossier of corrupt deals” perpetrated by the Jonathan administration to President Buhari is completely false and without foundation. This sponsored lie is part of the political attack by the pay masters of Saharareporters against Dr Okonjo-Iweala.
These attacks will continue given that these individuals are bent on a political and personal vendetta against her. Why are they angry? It is simply because she tried to bring integrity and transparency to the management of Nigeria’s public finances which obviously did not suit their interests. Saharareporters which has a long history of publishing falsehoods and distortions against Okonjo-Iweala is a paid tool of these individuals. But the lies of Saharareporters and its cohorts will never stop Okonjo-Iweala from loving her country or make her regret serving it, not once but twice. As always, we are confident that the truth shall prevail. Paul C Nwabuikwu Media Adviser to Dr Okonjo-Iweala

Yobe: A sucide bomber attacked RCCG during service today and killed six

The Police in Yobe on Sunday have confirmed the killing of six persons after a suicide bomber blew himself up in a church in Potiskum.
The bomber had entered the uncompleted Redeemed Christian Church of God at 9:55 am in the Jigawa area on the outskirts of the city in Yobe state and detonated his explosives, killing the priest and four other worshipers which included a woman and her two children.

Mr. Toyin Gbadegesin, told the News Agency of Nigeria:
“A male suicide bomber detonated a bomb at Redeem Church at Jigawa area of Potiskum, killing five on the spot. A female member of the church who sustained injuries also died while receiving treatment in the hospital.”

He said the injured are receiving treatment at various health facilities in the area.

A Witness Garba Manu told AFP the bomber arrived at the church on a motorised rickshaw disguised as a worshipper and detonated his explosives as soon as he entered the church.

“I saw when the bomber alighting from a motorised rickshaw and entering the church and as soon as he entered a loud explosion ripped through the church which is under construction. I saw him walk into the church and he didn’t raise any suspicion. Five worshippers, including three females and two males were in the church when the bomber entered and they were all killed. The dismembered body of the bomber was also recovered.''

Potiskum, the commercial hub of Yobe state, has been the site of multiple deadly attacks blamed on militant Islamist group Boko Haram. The town last suffered a twin suicide attack on June 15, in which 10 people were killed and several others injured.  No one has claimed responsibility for Sunday's attack.

A whole new perspective on youth mentoring

RECENTLY, I have begun thinking about youths that I used to know with great dreams and bright ideas, but seemed to have drifted into oblivion. Some have struggled to carve a niche for themselves, and having failed in this quest, have given up on their pursuits. Others have been swept away by life’s unpredictable challenges, helplessly watching their dreams being flooded down the drain by the tide.
