President Muhammadu Buhari will on Saturday leave Nigeria for Johannesburg, South Africa, to participate in the 25th African Union Summit.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
Adesina said Buhari would be undertaking his first continental assignment since his inauguration on May 29 by chairing the meeting of the Peace and Security Committee of the AU summit on Saturday.
The presidential spokesman said Buhari would also be holding a number of bilateral meetings that will consolidate his ongoing drive to secure Nigeria and the neighbouring countries from Boko Haram.
The President will return to Nigeria on Tuesday morning.
