Pastor Tunde Bakare has defended President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to delay ministerial appointments, citing that the president needs time to study what he inherited before making such key appointments.
Bakare told The Nation that it was important for the president to study the handover notes the former administration handed over, which would help guide the president’s decision in appointing ministers.
“I think it is good to give the new government time to settle down and time to assess what they have inherited from the Jonathan’s government so that they can sit down and begin to put the Nigerian house in order. And it’s good to give them time.”
He urged Nigerians to exercise patience with Buhari so that he arrives at a decision that will take the nation forward.
Adding that: “His transition committee didn’t have anything to work with. Just few days back, it handed over the report in 8,000 pages reduced to about 800 pages.”
The senior pastor of Latter Rain Assembly assured Nigerians that the Buhari administration was busy behind the scenes working to ensure that the ministers in the new regime emerge soon. He said ministerial appointments may take effect before the end of the month.
Pastor Tunde Bakare was President Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 presidential election on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
