Police rescue 100-year-old woman from kidnappers

The Nigeria Police Force, Thursday, announced the rescue of a 100-year-old woman, Hawwau Amarea, who was kidnapped by gunmen at Kudin village of Mahuta Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone 10, Sokoto, Bala Hassan, made the disclosure in Sokoto on Thursday.

According to him, Amarea was rescued by the operatives attached to the new anti-kidnap squad set up to apprehend those involved in the nefarious act, stating that the kidnappers had demanded for a N10m ransom.
“Part of the money was made available and was taken to a point where they were supposed to collect it.

“The police then swung into action and rescued the old woman after a gun battle with the kidnappers,” he said.

AIG Hassan further said the kidnappers abandoned the money and fled
